He Gave Me All He Had…

Hi,

He Gave Me All He Had
This is a very touching article and think you’ll enjoy it!.

This past weekend I was playing at Bistro Zinc restaruant at Lake Las Vegas. (And by the way, it is a great restaraunt)

My music rig is set up so I am wireless. Wwhat that means is, I have plugged my tracks intot the house system and I connected a wireless system to my guitar so I can move around a bit.

Sometimes I play inside the restaraunt and other times I’ll go outside where there are additional tables. But by playing outside, there is usually good amount of foot traffic from people passing by going from shop to shop looking around in the village.

People also tend to stop to listen for a moment or they may decide to come in and join us for dinner. In any case playing in this type of setting makes it very easy to talk with a lot of people while I play.

Additionally, being Las Vegas, this is a tipping town. I’ll be playing and someone will walk up to me and put a tip in my pocket while I’m playing.

Over the years I’ve had some tips that still stand out in my mind.

Here are a few:

About 4 years ago I was playing at the Alladin Casino/Hotel and a guy came up to me and said, “I bet you can’t play any Led Zeppeline.” I said, ” How much you want to bet?” Heck I’m holding the cards! Then he said, ” I bet you can’t play Stairway to Heaven?” I told him to come back the next day. I had to create the tracks. Well he did come back the next day and I played Stairway TO Heaven. He proceeded to put
Five $100 dollar bills in my Tip jar.

I’ll never forget the little girl that drew a picture for me during one of my gigs. She was 10 years old! the picture read, will you marry me when I grow up!

Then there is this other world reknown author that everytime he see’s me play he put’s a $100 bill in my jar. His name is Terry and you see his books in every book store in the world.

Then this past weekend, I was playing at Bistro Zinc outside on the patio in front of the restaraunt. It was pretty busy and a lot of people were walking by. I just got through playing this new upbeat latin Jazz song I had just written, when this little boy came up to me.

I could see him reaching into his pocket and he said “this is for you.” He extends his little hand and offers me $.21 cents and said, ” this is all I have Mr. Guitar Man.I said “wow! Thank You! ” I then asked, “why are you giving me this” and he said, ” because your reallly good!”.

How old are you I asked” the little boy/man said proudly, I’m 4 years old!”

This touched my heart.

Have a Great Week!

My Girlfriend is in “Lucky You”!

Howdy,
“Lucky You” Starring Drew Barrymore, Robert Duval and a few others came out over the weekend. Honestly, one of the main reasons we went to see it was because, Vickie Pieper, my girlfrieend had a small role as a significant background personality. WE wanted to see if we could see her.

Yes, she was an extra! We looked and looked and it appears we finally saw her in 1 scene but if you blinked, you missed it.

Anyway, we enjoyed the movie. Good story. Good castting. In case you didn’t know, the setting for the movie is in Las Vegas. The story is based upon poker players and there life. If you follow poker programs on TV at all, you will recognize some of the locations and famous players.

If your looking for Las Vegas gambling type movie with a good story, you’ll enjoy this movie.

I give this a THUMBS UP!

Have a Great Day!

I Met Frank Sinatra’s Pianist Tonight!

Hi Guys,
One of the coolest things about living and playing music in Las Vegas is you never know who is going to show up.

This past weekend I was playing my gig at Zinc Bistro at Lake Las Vegas and I was just getting ready to play my next tune when this well dressed guy walks up to me and asks:

“Where’s your band”?I replied, ” In the Closet”.He said, “What”! I then told him my tracks were on my ipod, plus I am set up so I am wireless and going through the restaraunt house system. (Which is actually pretty good). He just said, WOW! “You sound great kid”. I extended my hand and said my name is Robby LeBlanc and he said my name is Vince Falcone. I excitedly said “I know you, we Met at Ruth’s, the jazz singers service”.

Anyway, here I was, talking with Vince Falcone, Frank Sinatra’s pianist and conductor for 15 years. He is truly a legend in in own right, and a monster piano player!!! He had come in with his entire family. We had a great conversation, I played for about 2 hours and at the end of the night he walked up to me and said, you play great kid! I said maybe we’ll play together someday!

That is one of the great things about Las Vegas, you just never know who is going to show up!

Have a Great Day!
